How to Delete All Messages in Discord – Clear Discord Chat

CLEAR Discord Chat

There is no denying that when it comes to an all in one solution for a software that is great for gaming, Discord is one of the best software solutions you can use. I have been using this for the better part of 3 years and I have to say that it is the most comprehensive software solution available. What’s even better is that the developers are fully aware of what the users want and that is why they keep pushing newer and newer features onto the users.

One of the best things about Discord is how you can send messages without any hassle. However, the thing is that if you are part of a channel that has a lot of people and you are not as active on that channel, then you can easily get overwhelmed by the number of messages coming in every now and then.

So, what can be done in such situations? Well, the simplest way is to delete the messages. Now when it comes to the deletion, you have separate channels through which messages come. The first one being the direct message channel that can either be from an individual or a group of individuals. The second one being the channel messages.

In this article, we are going to explore both methods and we are going to talk about them in detail as well. Therefore, let’s not waste time and have a look.

How to Clear Direct Messages in Discord

When it comes to deleting direct messages, you have to know that there is no specific way of doing so. You cannot technically delete the text message from your inbox, and while it may sound inconvenient, this is how it is when you are looking at Discord. However, you can actually close the chat window, and moreover, you can go ahead and simply erase the copy of the message that you have received. However, the message will still remain intact in Discord’s servers as well on the sender’s end.

Still, below is how you can erase the local copy of your message.

Step 1: The first step is to right-click on the user name with whom you have had exchanged messages and then choose Message.

Step 2: In the Direct Message panel that you will see on the left side of the screen, simply hover over the conversation, and then click on the cross button that appears.

Step 3: This will make the conversation go away from your end. However, you do have to know that you will not be getting any confirmation prompt. So, only delete the messages that you do not want to keep.

In case you are looking for a place to hide or get rid of you your messages, this is the way to go and you have to keep that in mind. Again, you cannot delete them from the sender’s side or from the server-side.

How to Clear the Channel Messages on Discord

When it comes to channel messages on Discord, things are a bit different. You can actually go ahead and delete the channel messages and you don’t have to worry much either. As a matter of fact, there are multiple ways of getting rid of channel messages on Discord. You can check how you can do it below.

Step 1: The first step is to open the text channel that has the message or messages that you want to delete.

Step 2: Simply hover over the message until you see three dots appear on the far right side. Now click on the icon, and then simply select Delete from the menu.

Step 3: A new window will open with a prompt; asking if you want to delete the messages or not. Simply click the delete button.

This method is very convenient, however, the downside is that if you have a large number of messages that you want to get rid of, you cannot do it using this method as it can take a long time and that is not what we are aiming to achieve here.

Conclusion

There is no denying that Discord is one of the best software solutions when it comes to getting a hold of communication during gaming. You do not even have to rely on older solutions or the often broken solutions that are presented in many games. For instance, I still remember just how broken the voice chat was for PUBG or Tom Clancy’s: The Division in the earlier days; in those days, Discord was the one software that helped us get the proper playing experience.

With the aforementioned, I can assure you that you can easily delete the messages you want, or at least be able to hide them away from your inbox, especially when you are talking about something like direct messages.
